Aims, vision and common purpose of the Governing Body at Whitkirk

We have common interest with the school's vision; it is at the heart of our aims and purpose.

Our role is to hold the Head Teacher and school to account, to challenge and support, to be involved in strategic planning, offer direction and to manage public resources.

As a governing body we want to be “outstanding” we use 360’s to assess leaders, we have an annual self-evaluation and skills audit, this feeds into our governor development plan and is aligned to the school's development plan.

We want to continually be a strong cohesive team that has a very clear shared vision with our school, understands data, and ensures that we have the interest of the pupils at the centre of our actions.

We want all governors to feel involved and valued and promote a culture of sustainability where the governing body renews itself through effective recruitment, professional development and systematic self-evaluation.

As a school we want to be inclusive to all members of our community, providing a safe environment for pupils to learn and achieve their full potential. Promoting happy learning, parent engagement and ensuring that pupils are culturally aware.

Pupils are to develop life and social skills to be able to thrive and flourish to achieve independence and be the best they can be.

We also want a happy place for staff to work, a positive team environment that promotes development and encourage opportunities. Offering a good work / life balance, whilst incentivising performance.

Our school is a school where pupils, parents, senior leaders, middle leaders, staff, governors, the trust we belong to and our community are all listened to.
