School  »  Headteacher's Statement

Welcome to Whitkirk Primary School! Our website can only give you a flavour of what life is like here at Whitkirk and I would encourage any prospective parents to arrange a visit to school when you can see us working for yourselves. This can be done simply by contacting the school office to arrange a convenient time.

We are committed to providing the best educational experience for every child on our roll and we do this by creating an exciting and engaging curriculum that captures the children’s interests and promotes an enthusiastic and active approach to learning. We know that for our children to be successful in the future, they need to develop as effective learners. They need to be curious and skilled at solving problems. They should be able to use ICT as a useful tool in their learning, as technology is not just a part of their future but very much a part of our present too.

Our children are not seen simply as empty vessels to be filled up with facts. They are encouraged to be active participants in their learning and to be responsible for the progress they make and for their achievements. Employers are crying out for children to leave school with the ability to communicate effectively, to solve problems, to think creatively and to work well as part of a team. These are the skills and attributes that we promote here at Whitkirk.

Our children should also find their learning fun and look forward to coming to school each day. We have created a happy school, in which each child’s individual achievements are recognised and celebrated. But don’t take my word for it...come and see for yourself.
