Tigers

We have had a busy and brilliant start to the new school year in Tigers class. The children have really enjoyed learning about the Gruffalo and Friends.

We did lots of exciting things linked to this topic, such as acting out the story, making Gruffalo Crumble and designing and recording our own cooking programmes. Before we broke up for half-term, we had a Gruffalo Tea Party, which was a really fun day! The children dressed up as their favourite character from the story and they used their excellent cooking skills to make Owl Ice Cream, Gruffalo Crumble, Scrambled Snake and Roasted Fox!

Our trip to Nell Bank was probably the highlight so far. The children had an excellent day searching for the Gruffalo’s friends, exploring the fox’s tunnel, making a new house for mouse and completing a minibeast hunt. They found lots of things hiding underneath stones and logs – from worms and ants to beetle larvae!

This half-term, our topic is Marvellous Me. We will be investigating how the human body works in Science and doing some lovely written work based on the stories Funny Bones and Charlie’s Superhero Underpants.

We have had a great week celebrating Halloween with scary subtraction and acting out Room on the Broom. The witch even left us some trick or treat bags with subtraction problems to solve – definitely a trick!

Our Stay and Learn sessions will be running as usual every Friday morning first thing, so if you are able to, please come along.
