The role of the Governing Body is to hold the Head Teacher and school to account, to challenge and support, to be involved in strategic planning, offer direction and to manage public resources.
As a school we want to be inclusive to all members of our community, providing a safe environment for pupils to learn and achieve their full potential. We are committed to promoting a happy school, that has learning at its heart. We are also committed to encouraging parent engagement whenever possible, and to ensuring that pupils are culturally aware.
All pupils at Whitkirk need to be able to develop life and social skills, and to be able to thrive and flourish to achieve independence and be the best they can be.
We also want a happy place for staff to work, a positive team environment that promotes development and encourage opportunities. We aim to offering a good work / life balance, whilst incentivising performance.
As a governing body we have an annual self-evaluation and skills audit, and this feeds into our governor development plan which is aligned to the school's development plan.
We want to continually be a strong cohesive team that has a very clear shared vision with our school, understands data, and ensures that we have the interest of the pupils at the centre of our actions.
We want all governors to feel involved and valued and promote a culture of sustainability where the governing body renews itself through effective recruitment, professional development and systematic self-evaluation.
