Thank you.
At Whitkirk, we work very closely with Catering Leeds to ensure that our school meals conform to the Government's School Food Standard, which is statutory for all schools from January 2015.

You can find out more about the School Food Standard 2015 by following this link: http://www.schoolfoodplan.com/standards/

From September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal. Children in Key Stage 2 (Y3-Y6) have the choice of paying for a school meal or bringing a packed lunch from home.

Dinner times are spread over three sittings, as follows:
  • 11.30 - 12.30 Year 1, Year 2
  • 12.00- 1.00 Reception, Year 3 and Year 4
  • 12.30 - 1.30 Year 5 and Year 6
We see lunchtimes as an integral part of the school day. They are an opportunity for children to develop social skills as well as an appreciation of the importance of making healthy food choices. Children all have lunch in the school hall and hot meals are served in 'family' groups. Children all sit at mixed year group tables and two of the older children in the group are designated to be servers for the others. They are given training to ensure they serve the right portions to their table and then all of the group are responsible for clearing up after they have eaten and before they go out to play.

School meals for Key Stage 2 children are priced at £2.40 per day (£12 per week) and this should be sent in for the attention of Mrs Bailey (Bursar) on Monday morning for that week's meals.
