School  »  School Dinners

At Whitkirk, we work very closely with Catering Leeds to ensure that our school meals conform to the Government's School Food Standard, which is statutory for all schools from January 2015.

You can find out more about the School Food Standard 2015 by following this link: http://www.schoolfoodplan.com/standards/

From September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal. Children in Key Stage 2 (Y3-Y6) have the choice of paying for a school meal or bringing a packed lunch from home.

From September 2019, Dinnertime will take place 12 - 1pm.
We see lunchtimes as an integral part of the school day. They are an opportunity for children to develop social skills as well as an appreciation of the importance of making healthy food choices. Children all have lunch in the school hall and OUR BRAND-NEW Red Kite Hot meals are served in a canteen style servery.Children have the opportunity to sit with their friends at this key scoial time. Children are responsible for clearing up after they have eaten before they go out to play on the playground.

School meals can now be booked for and paid up tp 6 weeks in advance, using Parentmail. For further details, please speak to the school office.
