We believe that every child is a unique individual and it is our aim to enable all children to become the best that they can be. Some children may find aspects of the curriculum more difficult and at Whitkirk Primary School we plan and differentiate our so it is appropriate and matched to each child’s potential.

We have an effective system for identifying and supporting children with special educational needs. The inclusion team works closely with parents external agencies to ensure the right support is provided.

We are a mainstream primary school but we are also proud to work in partnership with John Jamieson East Specialist Inclusion Learning Centre (SILC) for children with complex physical difficulties and medical needs.

We are have recently partnered with Talking House, an independent speech and language therapy provider who work closely with our children with communication and speech needs, providing assessments, intervention plans and additional support.

Our Assistant Headteacher-SENCO is Afua Downes and our Learning Mentor is Sarah Fletcher. Both can be contacted by calling 0113 260 6203.
