What are Reception Networks?
Reception Networks provide opportunities for schools to work together through professional discussion, shared practice and collaborative network sessions focused on Reception provision.
Who can take part?
The network is open to:
- Reception teachers
- Early Years leaders
- Senior leaders with responsibility for EYFS
- Trust and local authority colleagues involved in Early Years provision
Colleagues from schools across Yorkshire and the Humber are welcome to attend.
What are the benefits?
Through the network, schools can:
- share effective Reception practice
- deepen understanding of high-quality provision
- reflect on approaches to teaching, learning and transition
- collaborate with colleagues across the region
- access shared resources and evidence-informed approaches
- visit and observe Reception provision in practice
The programme is designed to support ongoing improvement in Reception provision and strengthen outcomes for children.
Upcoming network sessions
Baseline: Preparation for September

Tuesday 23 June 2026 | 9–11am
Consider practical approaches to Reception Baseline Assessment preparation, establishing routines and creating enabling environments that support children from the start of the academic year.
Data and Assessment

Friday 9 October 2026 | 3:30–5pm
Reflect on meaningful assessment in Reception, including observation, professional judgement and using assessment information to support teaching, learning and next steps.
Prime Areas and Responsive Teaching

Friday 4 December 2026 | 9–11am
Explore strategies to strengthen communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development through responsive teaching and high-quality interactions.

Please note that parking on site is limited. Street parking is available nearby; however, Templegate Walk is residents-only parking.
Refreshments will be provided during the session. As an eco-friendly school, we kindly ask colleagues to bring a reusable water bottle and coffee cup where possible.
