Following a visit from James Cheater, Director of Education & Partnerships at White Rose Education, Whitkirk Primary School is delighted to have been recognised as a White Rose Champion School.
During his visit, James spent time exploring mathematics teaching and learning in our EYFS and Key Stage 1 classrooms, where he saw first-hand how children develop mathematical understanding through high-quality provision, purposeful play and carefully planned learning opportunities. He was particularly impressed by the rich mathematical experiences embedded throughout the environment and the consistent focus on developing children's confidence, curiosity and fluency in mathematics from the earliest stages of their education.
This recognition celebrates the hard work and dedication of our staff team, who have worked tirelessly to create a culture where mathematics is engaging, meaningful and accessible for all learners. It also reflects our commitment to ensuring that children develop a deep understanding and love of mathematics that supports them throughout their school journey.
As a White Rose Champion School, we look forward to working alongside White Rose Education to share effective practice, collaborate with other schools and continue developing excellence in mathematics across Whitkirk Primary School.
