Whitkirk Primary School is delighted to announce the official opening of its brand-new Pre-School – a purpose-built space designed to give children the very best start to their learning journey.
We are proud to have been one of just seven schools in Leeds awarded funding through the government’s School-Based Nurseries Grant. This provided £146,980.79 to create a high-quality early years environment for up to 26 children aged 3 and 4.
The Pre-School was officially opened on Thursday by Alison Wilson, Regional Director, who joined staff, governors, and members of the community to celebrate this exciting milestone.
“Our new Pre-School is a fantastic addition to Whitkirk,” said Gemma Quarmby, Headteacher of Whitkirk Primary School. “It will help children build strong foundations for their education, nurture their curiosity, and provide invaluable support for local families.”
The new provision offers play-based learning, dedicated outdoor areas, and a focus on early literacy, numeracy, and social development – all led by experienced staff passionate about helping children thrive. This is a significant investment not just in Whitkirk, but in the wider community. By opening its doors to local children, the Pre-School aims to strengthen family links, support working parents, and prepare children for a smooth transition into Reception.
