Home Learning in KS1

These are set using our online communication system, Class Dojo. Home learning varies through school dependent on your child’s age but starts in Reception with a focus on phonics. From Year 1, we always include reading and maths learning as well as times tables.
Regular reading at home makes a big difference to a child's learning.
Just 15 minutes reading every day is the best way to help your child succeed. We ask all parents and carers to hear their child read and read to them every day and record this in their child's Reading Record at least three times per week. It is important to discuss the meaning of new words and ask questions about the book.
In Year 1, pupils have number facts to learn by heart. Please help your child learn these at home. From Year 2 to Year 6 pupils should practice their multiplication tables using Times Tables Rock Stars. Log-in are available from your child's class teacher.
We learn our spellings in school, and these are sent home each week. Children will always have three 'it's not new for you!' spellings which will not be sent home, but from a previous week. If you wish to practice at home further, SpellingFrame, is a great way to learn the rules and patterns for your child's year group.
